Abdülhamid confronts the Grand Vizier. Mahmut Pasha is rescued from the French embassy by Selim and Necip Pasha. Selim leads Mahmut Pasha to the gallows. Abdülhamid receives surprising news that deeply upsets him.

While Saliha tries to introduce Mary to the harem, Mary has other intentions. She asks Aliye for help to meet Abdülhamid. Despite Saliha’s objections, Mary manages to meet Abdülhamid through her scheme.
